Wrap-Up

When we started this project I did not think that I would take much away from it, but it turns out that personalization of the internet and information is becoming more and more common. Being a person who doesn’t surf the web that often or even participates in much social media activities, I have been able to notice a number of changes throughout the semester. The things that I have noticed the most is that advertisements definitely seem to follow you, I noticed this most with the screenshots that  we took. Much of the information for the search terms look and for the most part was the same beside the difference in current events, but the advertisements for the online transaction I made  and other products that I looked up seem to stick with my avatar. The other change throughout the semester was the types of political accounts that would appear on my twitter and other news feeds and points of views on topics. At first my avatar didn’t have a political preference until I start retweeting things on twitter and facebook (before I was kicked out) but the views tended to follow into the screen shots, such as after the second time I searched Russia the new involved discussions with Obama, and I think that this is occurring due to the increased number of time I searched Barak Obama and Democratic Party. In the end I think the personalization of the internet has not moved to far from its original roots; product placement and advertising to the correct people; not including social media that is personalization on a whole other level. Social Media's personalization is instantaneous, or in other words as soon as you like, retweet or pin something you will be able to see changes right away and sometimes dramatically in your news feed.

4/22-4/29

Return Sites:
-Twitter: Continued to follow my political party and register click signals on their account. I also continued with retweeting post that my avatar would like and looked for more interest
-Pinterest:  Scrolled through my existing pins and looked into some new ones and ended up pinning several democratic  pins as well as republican jokes. I also continued to pin gardening and out remodeling pins. I started to like pins about oriental foods.
-Architecture Daily: When I returned to the site I was greeted by  a hello and a message in my in box because I haven't been to this site in a couple of weeks, or at least since I have registered with them. I scrolled through and click on articles dealing with news pertaining to architecture and building technologies and materials.

New Sites:
-PsychologyToday.com: I read about what meditation is and how it can positively affect  a person views on life. I browsed through the site and clicked on meditation essential reads and read a few articles.
-AzCentral.com: I looked up the top oriental food places in Arizona, and azcentral.com gave me a list of the top 10 places to go and eat. I personally never look up new food places online, I choose to just walk into new places and give them a try, but since I have been browsing the internet it has been nice learning about new things this way. I ended up actually going and trying one of these places called "Chou's Kitchen" on Alma School in Chandler

4/8-4/15

I chose to pick a political party to follow and register with that was not completely the same views I have and did so by starting with my Avatars Twitter account. I started to follow Liberal and Democratic accounts like @beingliberal and @GoComicsLiberal. I saw a change in my feed and type of suggestions that I was being presented with to take a dramatic left turn. I also received messages through twitter to join several pages. Over the course of the week I noticed that I have been receiving emails from democratic party candidates here in Arizona.

Differences:
The first thing I would say is that the second time around I learn from my mistake and scrolled further down to acquire more information when it came for search results. The results from earlier in the semester and the ones from this week is that the information is more current and due to the increase in political searches the information further down incorporates the topic we have been searching

2/24-3/2

I started my search on Google and asked what is the best mustache wax, and within the results  came the website TheBeardBaron.com. Within the site held five different types of mustache waxes and creams. I clicked on each of the types to read more about what is in them and then picked the one I thought was the best. From there I clicked ADD TO CART and  bought one totaling out at 8.00 flat.

On twitter  I follow mustache jokes and also hashtagged #mustachemovement  and posted a picture of top mustaches. I also retweeted some architecture related posts, and visited a couple of site relating to kayaking in Arizona. On twitter I was suggested to follow CNN international and AZ State University.

After about a week I started to see ads for mustache waxes from other site but also including the site I purchased it from. the where also suggestions to follow mustache pages.

This week I signed up for a twittter account under my avatar guise, I began following Architecture Record and ArchDaily along with other architecture accounts.

I have also created a Spotify account, and began downloading types of music that I have decided that my avatar is interested in, including classic rock, jazz, and classic symphony.

I visited the national park service website for national parks in Arizona and looked into parks with rivers that are good for kayaking. I signed up for updates and news about the parks here in Arizona.

Visited the American Mustache Institute and read their "About Us" and the Mustache Americana and the types of mustaches and styles

Searched Travel guides for going to see architecture in other countries
